Big C's Music
Best of 2011
It was tricky, because there have been so many great tunes this year. I decided to choose the songs based my gut feelings (love) for the tune and how many times I’d gone back to listen to them. Looking at the long list there are many songs that prob. should be in the top 10 and that 2011 will be remembered for, but I had to pick just 10. Well actually I cheated and chose 11, I thought putting my own track in the top 10 wouldn’t be fair, but the mixture of Rex the Dog, Aeroplane and Giorgio Moroder worked so well for me that I had to include it.
I have also put together a minimix of the top 10 tunes. 10 tracks in 5 mins and the number 1 song in full - listen above, or click through here:

Producers
Moonlight Matters
Consistently producing remix after remix of high quality, everything he has released has been excellent. Finally he put out an original release on Aeroplane’s “In Flight Entertainment”, which was again brilliant. This man has done no wrong, providing some of the best tunes of the year, long may he continue.

The Magician
The best thing to happen from Aeroplane’s split is The Magician. His original productions and remixes have been excellent, his consistently great Magic Tapes and live DJ sets he lives up to his productions. He’s continually produced material all year and it’s been the soundtrack to my year. His work with Yuksek has been outstanding and it was hard to pick one track for the top 10, but this one if my favourite I think with ‘Twist’ coming a very close second.

Gigamesh
With a wide ranging sound, Gigamesh has delivered remix after remix of dancefloor killers and an original EP that was on fire. Versatile and always to a high standard I think that Gigamesh is destined for greatness.

Blue Satellite
His fidget electro disco house style with more musicality than most producers has really impressed me. I can only see 2012 being a big year for him.

Special Mention
Madeon - Pop Culture
This track cemented Madeon’s prodigy status for me. It’s brilliantly formed, using a multitude of samples to create a whole new song. The fact that he plays it live is the icing on the cake. He has a very bright future in front of him based on the excellent tracks he has produced so far… and all this from a teenager. Any canny record label would snap him up for an original album and to produce their next act.

Best New Bands
I’ve loved every song I’ve heard from all three of these bands this year.
